My name is Joshua Cashill.
I am a teacher.
In fact, I’m an English teacher.
I am American.
I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I teach English to Brazilians.
I teach private English classes to adults.
Most of my students are professionals.
I teach many students from many different professions.
I have students who are lawyers and judges.
Some of my students work in the music industry.
Other students are computer engineers.
One of my students is a director at Coca-Cola.
My favorite student is an Equestrian Veterinarian - she is a special animal doctor who takes care of horses!
Most of my students want to improve their English for their jobs.
But some of my students are retired people.
They do not work anymore, but they want to learn English because they like to travel.
So we talk a lot about movies, the theater, travel and food.
My students and I talk about many different things.
I need to know a little about many different subjects.
My classes last for one hour.
Usually my students have one class per week.
Some have two classes per week.
I am expensive ($$$), but I am very good at my job.
My goal as a teacher is to make my students feel comfortable when they speak English.
When my students feel more comfortable speaking in English, they become more confident when they speak English.
When a student feels more confident speaking English, they become more competent in English.
I call this process “The 3 C’s: Comfortable, Confident, Competent”
I love my job as an English teacher.
