Footprints (in the Sand)
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord,
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you.
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Pegadas (na areia)
One night I dreamed a dream.
Uma noite eu tive um sonho.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord,
Enquanto que estava andando na praia com o Senhor,
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
Através do Céu, passavam cenas da minha vida.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
Para cada cena que se passava, percebi que eram deixados dois pares de pegadas na areia;
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
Um era meu e o outro do Senhor.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
Quando a última cena da minha vida passou,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
Olhei para trás para as pegadas na areia.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
Notei que muitas vezes, no caminho da Minha vida,
Especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
Especialmente nos momentos mais difíceis e angustiosos do meu viver,
There was only one set of footprints.
Havia apenas um par de pegadas na areia.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
Isso entristeceu-me deveras, e perguntei, então, ao Senhor.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
Senhor, Tu me disseste que, uma vez que eu resolvi Te seguir,
You'd walk with me all the way.
Tu andarias sempre comigo, todo o caminho.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
Mas, notei que durante os momentos mais tristes e de maior tribulação do meu viver,
There was only one set of footprints.
Havia apenas um par de pegadas.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
Não compreendo porque, nas horas que mais necessitava de Ti, Tu me deixaria."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you.
O Senhor sussurrou, " Meu precioso filho, Eu te amo e jamais te deixarei.
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
Jamais, nunca, nas horas da tua prova e do teu sofrimento.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
Quando vistes na areia, apenas um par de pegadas,
It was then that I carried you."
